About SEMATECH
SEMATECH is the world's catalyst for accelerating the commercialization of technology innovations into manufacturing solutions.
By setting global direction, creating opportunities for flexible collaboration, and conducting strategic R&D, SEMATECH delivers significant return on investment to our semiconductor and emerging technology partners.
What we do
At SEMATECH, we work with our members and partners to reduce the time from innovation to manufacturing. Our role is to address critical challenges in advanced technology and manufacturing effectiveness, and to find ways to speed development, reduce costs, share risks, and increase productivity.
How we do it
Semiconductor and emerging technology research is both high cost and high risk. Our membership represents about half of the world's semiconductor production, and in addition we have built a global network of alliances with equipment and material suppliers, universities, research institutes, consortia, start-up companies, and government partners. Because we all face many of the same constraints and long-term concerns, we work together to leverage resources and keep the industry vital and growing ever stronger.
SEMATECH has a long history of delivering value; over the last two decades, we have focused on fostering innovation and assuring manufacturability by:
Executing strategies, delivering results
- Driving the search for new materials, tools, and processes
- Sponsoring benchmarking and standards efforts
Leveraging resources
- Delivering immediate value by pooling resources for measurable results
- Serving as the industry’s model for successful public/private partnerships
- Partnering with suppliers, universities, and other consortia
Influencing the industry
- Focusing the industry on the commercialization of advanced R&D research
- Building common infrastructure solutions to minimize risk and lower cost.
Working with SEMATECH
As the industry has grown more complex, SEMATECH has worked to allow increased flexibility in membership and programs. There are numerous ways to work with us:
Full
SEMATECH membership -
SEMATECH's Advanced Technology divisions conduct state-of-the-art research on the technical challenges and costs associated with developing new materials, processes, and equipment for semiconductor manufacturing including immersion and EUV patterning and resists, low k-effective materials , and high-k materials and next-generation transistors. Full SEMATECH members are also ISMI members, and have access to AMRC programs and results.
ISMI
membership - ISMI (International SEMATECH Manufacturing Initiative) is the only organization in the world focused exclusively on manufacturing effectiveness. The consortium conducts programs in manufacturing infrastructure, methods, standards, and productivity, with the aim of reducing the costs of producing wafers and driving solutions to major productivity challenges.
ATDF -
ATDF is a leading technology R&D center where semiconductor manufacturers, equipment and materials suppliers, and others can confidentially test new designs, integration methodologies, and prototype systems while protecting their own intellectual property.
AMRC -
The AMRC is a cooperative research effort involving the state of Texas, SEMATECH, and Texas universities to accelerate the commercialization of advanced research into semiconductor and emerging technologies like nanotech, biotech, and advanced energy applications.
