ISMI Receives 2009 Lunar New Year Global Green Award for Innovation in Green Technology
Austin, TX (19 February 2009) – International SEMATECH Manufacturing Initiative (ISMI) today announced that it has received the 2009 Lunar New Year Global Green Award from the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce for its significant contribution to global semiconductor manufacturers in reducing greenhouse emissions by pioneering the development and facilitation of global environment, safety and health (ESH) standards.
“With this award we recognize ISMI's leadership in developing and implementing cost-effective, environmentally friendly manufacturing processes and procedures,” said Mohan Kharbanda, chairman of the Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce. “ISMI has brought significant value to the industry and to the State of Texas by improving the global supply chain and manufacturing infrastructure.”
The award comes on the heels of the recently launched ISMI ESH Technology Center based in Austin. Dedicated to sustaining green technology solutions that lead to reduced energy consumption, lower costs, and greater productivity in semiconductor manufacturing, the ISMI ESH Technology Center provides data-driven research and best practices to solve the challenges of sustainable manufacturing.
“Over the past 15 years we’ve been assisting our members and the industry in various energy conservation activities, and we are honored that our expertise was recognized with this award,” said Scott Kramer, vice president of Manufacturing Technologies at SEMATECH. “Sustainable manufacturing is vital for long-term growth and the ESH Technology Center will continue to lead the effort to keep our industry’s manufacturing businesses productive, profitable, and sustainable, while significantly reducing the environmental footprint of manufacturing operations.”
The Texas Asian Chamber of Commerce fosters Asian American economic development to create a sustainable and prosperous economy for the State of Texas and its capital city, Austin. This year marks TACC’s 13th Annual Lunar New Year celebration, and the first Global Green Award TACC has given.
