Abstract: The European Union (EU) REACH regulation requires relevant substances
manufactured or imported in excess of 1 ton per year to be pre-registered by
December 1, 2008. Pre-registration allows companies to register substances
on a phased in schedule based on hazard and volume. Relevant substances
which are not pre-registered require immediate registration for continued
availability in the EU. Semiconductor device manufacturers surveyed
suppliers to determine their intent with respect to REACH pre-registration
and to identify REACH contacts within each company. Results were compiled and are presented.
