John Warlaumont
Albany Site Executive
John Warlaumont was named SEMATECH’s Albany Site Executive in August 2007. He has overall responsibility for overseeing the operations and strategy of the consortium’s advanced technology R&D programs in Albany, including the areas of lithography, 3D interconnect, and metrology.
Previously, Warlaumont was director of Technology Strategy for IBM’s Microelectronics Division, where he was responsible for the analysis of strategic semiconductor development issues and technical negotiations with new and continuing IBM development partners, including device manufacturers and equipment suppliers.
During his career at IBM Warlaumont also served as director of Silicon Technology and director of Lithography Systems, and was responsible for programs focused on emerging device, interconnect, and process technologies, electron-beam technology development, and various lithography technologies, including immersion, model-based proximity correction, and x-ray.
Warlaumont has served as Chairman and member of the Semiconductor Research Corporation’s Board of Directors, and as a member of the Semiconductor Industry Association’s Technology Strategy Committee, the Focus Center Research Program’s Scientific Advisory Board, and the Nanotechnology Research Institute’s Governing Council. He has also served on the Secretary of Energy Advisory Board for the National Ignition Facility.
Warlaumont has a PhD in Physics from Cornell University.
